EMILY LOVES - Presents
EMILY LOVES…Presents
Pull out your partywear and get the champagne chilling — the holidays are here again. Aside from all the seasonal festivities, and the many opportunities to sport your finest jewels, one of my favorite parts of the holidays is finding gifts for all of my nearest and dearest. Holiday shopping can be a Herculean task so, to help you in your own quest to find perfect presents, I’m sharing a few of the pieces I’m looking forward to giving this year.
I think the best gifts are not only personal for the recipient but also reflect the person giving them, which is why so many of the items on this list employ the vibrant colors that are central to my designs (and, really, everything I do). My passion for jewelry is closely rivaled by my passion for décor, and holiday shopping offers an opportunity to share that passion with friends and family. From lamps to linens, beautiful objects for the home are a treat to give and receive. Another of my personal obsessions is skincare and fragrance — two of my perennial gifting go-to’s. My mantra is that, excluding skincare and makeup, nothing brightens the face like foiled jewelry. And when it comes to holiday shopping: jewelry is always a good idea!
TRACY GLOVER VASES
Rhode Island based glass artist Tracy Glover utilizes traditional techniques to craft hand-blown glassware with a modern edge. I love the way these vases juxtapose vividly colored bulbs with clean, clear cylinders — something old, something new, totally chic.
VOTARY FACE OIL
I discovered this brand on a recent trip to London and was quickly converted. Their intense night oil, with a gentle retinoid and a medley of vitamin-packed plant oils, is heavenly as is their calming lavender and chamomile pillow spray: an ideal gift for frequent fliers.
LINDA & WINKS COLLAR AND LEASH
While I’m a proud mother of two rescue cats, my feline family doesn't share my interest in accessorizing. Dogs, however, can appreciate this new range of denim and vegan leather collars and leashes, designed by the ultra-stylish Linda Rodin. Plus, 10% of sales go to the Humane Society Of New York, so you can gift and give back all in one.
CRESSIDA BELL LAMPS
British artist Cressida Bell hand paints these fabulously patterned lamps and shades at her London studio. I love their ebullient celebration of color, reminiscent of the Bloomsbury Group, and certain to cheer up any room.
SUNSPEL BOXERS
With a husband and two sons, I’m always looking for unexpected gifts that guys will enjoy. These silk boxers, in an archival Liberty print dating back to the 1930’s, hit all the right notes: comfy and practical with just enough decadence.
LE LION SWEATER
Personalized gifts are guaranteed to impress, and I’m particularly smitten with the whimsical monograms of Le Lion. These sweaters can be customized with a range of sequin-laced embellishments, from initials to zodiac signs and even a portrait of one’s pet.
THE ROUNDS COOKIES
I recently worked with The Rounds on creating custom-colored cookies for an event of my own and can attest that they are as tasty as they are beautiful. In addition to the sweet variety, there are several savory crackers that are an easy, elegant accompaniment to cocktails.
MISCHA LAMPERT BEANIE
This cozy hand-knit beanie, in a rainbow spectrum of merino wool topped with a pink fur pom-pom, is designed for kids but I wouldn’t mind one for myself. Lucky are the little ones that get this to brighten gray, snowy days.
BAD POLITICS BY SUSAN UNTERBERG
My ever-inspiring mother is an artist and just released this book of photo collages, juxtaposing self-portraits alongside illuminations of her views on Donald Trump’s actions as President. It’s a thoughtful, and thought-provoking, work that brings some levity to the current state of political discussion — a gift from which we all could benefit!
DR VRANJES DIFFUSER
I came across this fragrance while staying at the JK Place hotel in Florence — it perfumed the lobby — and I made a point of tracking it down. The ginger and lime scent is refreshing and light, and the sculptural glass bottle is striking enough to be displayed with pride.
AUGARTEN WIEN DESSERT PLATES
Any avid hostess will be wowed by these artful dessert plates from the 300-year-old Austrian porcelain maker, Augarten Wien. I love the asymmetric, finely-detailed pattern and that each dish's slight differences makes each unique — like a Kandinsky for your cake.
YALI ROBE
Exquisitely-crafted pajamas are a perfect gift, the kind of thing that everyone will enjoy yet may not buy for themselves. This robe, in a lustrous burgundy silk velvet with aqua frogged buttons, is pretty enough to pull double duty on lazy days at home as well as romantic nights out.
LIBERTY SKIS
My family has a home in Beaver Creek, Colorado where we escape to celebrate the holidays. Skiing is always on the agenda, and I’m looking forward to taking a pair of these eye-catching bamboo and carbon fiber skis out for a spin. Liberty Skis offers a full suite of options for both men and women, and these are my favorites for each.
WESTMAN ATELIER BLUSH
I am obsessed with this new cosmetics range from super makeup artist Gucci Westman. Beyond the vibrant hues and creamy texture, these blushes also boast organic, non-toxic ingredients that nourish your skin while imparting a rosy glow.
CHIARASTELLA CATTANA TEA TOWELS
I stumbled upon Chiarastella Cattana’s boutique while visiting Venice and was blown away by the quiet refinement of her textiles, like these intricately woven tea towels. The graphic patterns, in a luxe linen-cotton jacquard, are almost too beautiful to sully in the kitchen.
