Antique Paste & Enamel Parure, ca 1850
Our Notes
Extremely rare in its completeness, this mid-19th-century three-piece parure is a striking expression of Central European jewelcraft. Comprising a fluid necklace, an articulated bracelet, and dramatic girandole earrings, the suite is rendered in gold-backed silver, anchoring a vibrant interplay of rich black and white enamel work alongside warm pink paste stones. Each paste is housed in a traditional closed collet setting, reflecting light through the gems to cast a soft, romantic glow.
The architectural framing, defined by contrasting enamel and cascading drop earrings, is characteristic of the mid-century Renaissance and Rococo Revivals that flourished across the Austro-Hungarian Empire. To find a fully realized parure from this period that retains its complete set of girandoles, bracelet, and necklace in such harmonious condition is exceptional. Rich in dramatic contrast and historic flair, it is a commanding suite for the dedicated antique collector.
