Antique Paste Pendant Earrings, ca 1780
Our Notes
This pair of late 18th-century pendeloque earrings features elongated openwork drops set with foiled white paste stones in closed silver collets. Suspended from small circular surmounts, the foliate drops are accented by a line of gold beadwork down the central spine, creating a refined two-tone contrast against the oxidized silver settings. Fine gold beadwork and delicate wire accents were defining hallmarks of 18th-century Portuguese benchwork, where jewelers combined intricate metal textures with openwork silhouettes to maximize visual impact.
The openwork design keeps the dramatic length lightweight, allowing the articulated drop to move easily on the ear. Fitted with gold earwires, the pair offers a clear, well-preserved example of 18th-century paste work and Iberian silver construction.

Care
As our jewelry is worn, patinas will evolve, further personalizing them to each collector. Due to the nature of foiled jewelry, care should be taken in order to keep Larkspur & Hawk jewelry from becoming harmed. A few tips:
- Remove jewelry when applying lotions, soaps and perfume
- Remove jewelry before immersing hands in cleaning solvents or liquids
- Please note that oxidation may eventually wear off of rings, then return naturally
