Antique Rococo Revival Bracelet, ca 1880
Our Notes
During the late 19th century, American jewelers looked to the grandeur of 18th-century France, reviving the lush, curving forms and theatrical elegance of the Rococo movement. This remarkable late Victorian bracelet is a masterwork of that aesthetic, crafted in rich 14k gold with a substantial, tactile weight of over 48 grams. The sprawling, fluid goldwork serves as a dramatic frame for 35 sparkling rose-cut diamonds totaling approximately 4.25 carats, casting a soft, candlelit radiance across the wrist.
Adding to its intrigue, the back bears a period stamp for TIFFANY & CO., 14KT, and a specific inventory number, though it is not a registered hallmark in the maker's official records. Still, the exceptional caliber of the goldsmithing, the setting quality, and the sophisticated scale strongly suggest it was created by a top-tier American maker or designer associated with the house. An extraordinary survival of late 19th-century luxury, it offers all the drama, weight, and artistry of a premier gilded-age treasure.
