Designed as a stylized symmetrical bow, this brooch features hand-cut clear glass pastes set in closed-back silver mountings with silver foil backing to intensify brilliance. Beyond their decorative charm, bow motifs hold significant history in 18th-century jewelry; originating from the practice of tying ribbons to secure bodice ornaments (sévigné), they evolved into jeweled representations symbolizing intimacy, binding affection, and courtly elegance.

The reverse showcases typical period construction, featuring a hand-chased, patterned metal casing that protected the delicate foil from moisture and wear. A rare survivor from the Rococo transition, it captures the architectural yet fluid ribbon forms characteristic of high-born 18th-century evening adornment.
