Antique Georgian Pearl Cluster Ring, ca 1800
Our Notes
During the 18th century, statement rings were crafted to captivate from every angle, making intricate side profiles just as significant as the primary motif. This magnificent Georgian ring features an extraordinarily complex cluster, centering on a lustrous baroque pearl encircled by a radiant sunburst of rose-cut diamonds, which is then framed by an openwork border set with alternating pearls and diamonds. True to the master bench techniques of the era, the entire cluster is crafted in traditional closed-back settings that protect the gems and impart a soft, romantic glow.
What elevates this piece into a true showstopper are the striking three-ribbed shoulders, each band painstakingly set with additional rose-cut diamonds that flow down into a rich gold reeded shank. Given the scale and broad orientation of these sparkling ribs, this ring was almost certainly designed to be worn on the index finger, allowing the detailed side work to be fully displayed. Bold, sculptural, and brimming with architectural drama, it is a spectacular centerpiece for any collection.
